Starting Point Nursing Services
The Cuyahoga County Board of Health Nursing Services Starting Point program
provides free training for childcare providers who have children with diagnosed medical needs in
their care. The program provides parents with the security of knowing childcare
providers have been trained to handle their child's unique medical situation.
Examples of conditions

- Feeding tubes
- Allergies
- Asthma
- Seizures
Program Services
A Public Health Nurse develops an individualized healthcare plan, provides
ongoing follow-up, and coordinates services with families, doctors, and childcare
professionals.
Consult & train about:
- Specific diseases
- Medical conditions
- Nutrition and feeding issues
- Medication and side effects
- Medical Emergencies
- Injuries
- Post surgery problems
- Medical Documentation
Furnish equipment rentals such as nebulizers, inhalers, feeding tube equipment, gloves,
etc.
Conduct in-service workshops on general health topics like Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS),
asthma, seizure disorders, etc.
