Environmental Health Services
Environmental Health Services collaborates closely with local, county, regional,
statewide, and national officials to address the needs of our residents and to assist them with the
prevention, identification, and elimination of diseases transmitted through vectors, food, water,
wastes, by air and by land.
Activities in these many programs are conducted by Registered Sanitarians as defined in Ohio
Revised Code Chapter 4736. Registered Sanitarians are environmental health professionals who
apply specialized knowledge and skills in the discipline of environmental health. Their challenge
is to protect the population from harm and illness that arise from their interaction with countless
environmental factors. Sanitarians possess the unique ability to link the science of public
health with environmental health and protection.
