The Cuyahoga County Comprehensive Partnership for Tobacco Reduction (CCPTR)

School-based programming

School-based programming includes intergrating a research-validated prevention program (Life Skills) and an established school-based prevention program (Word of Mouth). Life Skills is a comprehensive  15 sessions 50 minute research-validated prevention program proven to reduce the risk  of alcohol, tobacco, drug abuse and  violence.  Word of Mouth ®  (WOM)is a 4 session 40 minute established school-based tobacco prevention program developed by the American Lung Association design to reduce youth initiation of tobacco use.

Neighborhood Programming

Neighborhood programming includes the delivery of the American Lung Associations Freedom from Smoking ® adult cessation program in various communities and businesses, encouraging employers to comply with the Smoke- Free Work Place Act, and tobacco vendor compliance check. The Freedom from Smoking program is an eight (8) session  six week program design to help adults learn the skills they need to successfully quit smoking. The Smoke-Free Work Place Act is a result of the passage of issue 5, all indoor public places including restaurants, bars and bowling alleys are required to prohibit smoking Click here for more information.  The tobacco vendor compliance check is a program  that engages youth to assist the CCPTR in acertaining how well vendors comply with Ohio Revised Code, section 2927.02

Community-wide Programming

The community-wide programming, which targets all of Cuyahoga County, includes the following: adult surveillance (Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Survey); youth surveillance (Partnership Youth Tobacco Survey); county-wide marketing campaigns; vendor compliance/education workshops and Community-wide education and awarenes of the Smoke-Free Work Place Act.
