Environmental Health Education
Program Background In March of 2001, the Cuyahoga County Board of
Health adopted the newly revised Ohio Food Code in order to better protect the public from health
risks associated with food. This science-based code highlighted the importance and need for
educational opportunities aimed at all food purveyors. The person in charge would
become legally responsible for the safe flow of food from the back door to the customer.
The Cuyahoga County Board of Health embraced these changes due to the strong connection between food safety and a proactive educational program. Our dedicated sanitarians are available to assist with illness investigations, complaints, recalls and routine inspections.
