Enroll for Free Breast and Cervical Cancer Screenings(October 24, 2007) -FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Press Release Ohio Breast & Cervical Cancer Project
NORTHEAST OHIO - October 15,2007- For the first time in the history of the Ohio Breast & Cervical Cancer Project (BCCP), state funding has been received to supplement the federal funding that provides the breast & cervical cancer screening and diagnostic services to low income, uninsured women over age 40 throughout the state. The new state funds will allow the program to provide screening and diagnostic services to approximately 9,000 additional women in Ohio per year. The Ohio Breast & Cervical Cancer Project is a statewide high-quality breast and cervical cancer screening program administered by the Ohio Department of Health. In past years, we have been able to serve over 10,000 women per year with free breast and cervical cancer screening and/or diagnostic services. Many of these women would not be able to obtain these important health screenings without the care and generosity of a network of over 600 providers and referrals made of organizations and partners in our communities. The Breast & Cervical Cancer Project (BCCP) in Northeast Ohio is asking for your help to identify and serve these additional women. If you know of a woman who may be eligible for BCCP, we encourage you contact the appropriate regional enrollment site to determine if a women is eligible for services. Who can receive services?
For women who live in the counties of Cuyahoga, Ashtabula, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Trumbull contact Cuyahoga County Board of Health @ 1-800-443-2168 For women outside of these counties visit Ohio Department of Health website @ www.odh.state.oh.us, for the all BCCP regional enrollment sites in Ohio that you can contact for more information. Take a few moments to spread the word to more women who may be in need of breast and cervical
cancer screenings. Together we can make a difference in cancer history for Ohioans!
