*At its regular public meeting on June 16th, the University Heights City Council approved three ordinances for special assessments: Ord. No. 2008-28 for street lighting; Ord. No. 2008-29 for tree maintenance; and Ord. No. 2008-30 for sewer maintenance.  The rates which had not been changed since 1998 were increased as follows:  street lighting from $0.60 to $0.70 per front footage; tree maintenance from $0.40 to $0.80 per front footage; and sewer maintenance from $58 to $78 per dwelling unit.  For a typical resident with 50 feet front footage; for street lighting will increase $5 a year; for tree maintenance will increase $20 a year, and for sewer maintenance will increase $20 a year.  Typical bill for a resident with 50 feet front footage will be $153 a year compared to previous amount of $108 a year.  These assessments can be paid at the office of the Director of Finance before August 1, 2008.  Call the office at 216-932-7800 ext.217 for amounts.  Otherwise, these amounts will be certified to the Cuyahoga County Auditor’s office and will be assessed on the 2008 tax duplicate collected in 2009 in two installments.
