ABOUT THE CUYAHOGA COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH

The Cuyahoga County District Board of Health has been serving the
cities, villages and townships of Cuyahoga County since 1919. As Ohio's largest health district by
population, servicing a majormetropolitan area, the Board of Health provides a broad range of
quality driven public health programs and services. The essential services are provided based upon
long standing state mandates in public health law. The Ohio Department of Health, Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention, and the Environmental Protection Agency have rated the Board's
services as exceptional in the areas of management, implementation and public health impact .
Undergoing internal modernization and restructuring has
strengthened our commitment to the community. We stand behind the following Organizational

The Cuyahoga County Board of Health values the well being of each
of the 885,000 residents in our Health District. For over 85 years we have been committed to
improving your health and quality of life through innovative, scientifically based public health
programs that Prevent disease and injury, Promote positive health outcomes and Provide critical
services. Our experienced, dedicated staff works hard every day to assure that our programs are
effective in improving the health of the community. It is our pledge to offer quality services in

Environmental Health ,
Nursing ,
Epidemiology Surveillance and Informatics , and
Community Health services areas now incorporate the principles of continuous
quality improvement. Our work force, supported through
Administration , has been reorganized into team management groups enabling
the Board to maintain strength in existing programs and also maximize flexibility and capability to
meet new challenges. Each year staff and management work together to develop
organizational
performance goals . Additionally, the Board
continues to pursue leadership on public health issues at the federal and state levels to insure
that future legislative and programmatic changes complement the communities' needs and enhance the
Board's efforts to improve the health and quality of life in Cuyahoga County. Do
